Completion time: approximately 30 minutes

This program is designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners who are responsible for or who have an interest in caring for people with acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease. More information is available in the 2020 Australian guideline for prevention, diagnosis and management of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease, 3rd edition. On completion of this program, participants will be able to describe

  • how to prevent the spread of strep A bacteria.
  • the most common signs and symptoms of acute rheumatic fever.
  • the role of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Practitioner in supporting people with acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.
