What is acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease? An explainer video and poster for school staff

This brief overview of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is aimed at school staff, who are well placed to assist children aged 5-14 years, their families and communities to prevent and manage these conditions. Sore throats can lead to open heart surgery in high risk populations. We encourage all school staff to watch the video and download the poster for displaying around the school.

The journey of health and wellbeing - WA health video

The Journey of Health and Wellbeing animated video helps to promote understanding of Aboriginal people’s experience from colonisation to the present day.

The 10-minute animation shows how events of the past play out in the present and offers a framework of hope and equity.

This video has been produced by the Aboriginal Health Policy Directorate at the Department of Health Western Australia, in discussion with consultants, Mr Tim Muirhead and Mr Danny Ford. 

Treatment Tracker App

Treatment Tracker is a free to use phone app for people who are on penicillin injections to prevent acute rheumatic fever. The app reminds people when their injection is due or when they have an appointment for their injection AND motivates people to get their injections on time. It can also be used by people who care for other people on these penicillin injections.
