RHD for Community Based Workers E-Learning
Begin RHD for Community Based Workers E-learning Program
Community based workers have many roles and education levels vary widely. They may be educators, facilitators, advocates, researchers who work within community and liaise beyond.
This program provides information about acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease for community based workers. It consists of many short videos and quizzes to stimulate discussion. Benny's story is used to describe some basic concepts, which are supported by other videos and quizzes. Some information is repeated, the same information is shared in different ways.
It is designed to be used in conjunction with face to face training and supervision. It is in a pilot stage, and will be refined in response to feedback. Please send any feedback to emer.oconnor@menzies.edu.au.
When this e-learning program is completed, the participant will be able to:
- describe the actions required to prevent Strep A transmission
- describe the actions required when throat or skin infections are present
- describe acute rheumatic fever
- describe the importance of Bicillin L-A injections (secondary prophylaxis)
