The role of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners is crucial to improving health outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Within a healthcare setting such as hospitals and clinics, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners can provide support, liaison and advocacy.

E-Learning - RHDAustralia clinician modules

Featuring 15 different topics on ARF & RHD, this advanced education package was designed by clinicians for clinicians. Each module was developed in consultation with a clinical expert on the module topic. Aimed at clinicians and senior health staff, topics range from an introduction to acute rheumatic fever through to medical management of rheumatic heart disease. These modules are designed to be a self-paced, interactive learning tool. Each module takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. Users can choose to do as many modules as they need to meet their learning requirements.

E-Learning - Administering Bicillin: reducing pain, stress and inconvenience experienced by patients who need 3 – 4 weekly IM Bicillin LA

This online module for clinicians and health workers provides an overview of the different injection sites for Bicillin LA, as well as techniques and strategies that may help minimise the pain, stress and inconvenience for people with a history of acute rheumatic fever or rheumatic heart disease. To complete the module please register or logon to our learning management system (links below). The module was funded by Pfizer Australia, and produced by the Queensland Rheumatic Heart Disease Control Program and RHDAustralia.

RHDAustralia health care worker modules

This education package provides the health workforce with a basic understanding of best-practice approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease. The package contains 5 modules, each takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Each module must be completed before moving to the next. You will need to register/login to RHDAustralia's Learning Management System to commence the module (see link below).
