Launch of “Heart on Your Sleeve” Social Media Campaign

The “Heart on Your Sleeve” (HOYS) campaign, launched at the end of February is now underway with a flurry of activity in the social media world.

The campaign was initiated and funded by community members and the Western Australia RHD Control program, based in Broome, WA helped to coordinate the campaign. The aim of the social media campaign is to raise awareness about acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) within the community at a ground level. Within Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are almost twenty times more likely to die of RHD. Through spreading awareness, the campaign aims to provide support to individuals and families living with RHD.
