The ‘HeART’ exhibition features artists from across northern correctional & detention facilities, with works portraying their personal impression of ARF and RHD and how the disease has impacted their families and communities.

Australia has some of the highest documented cases of Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) in the world with children as young as 4 years of age needing major open-heart surgery.

Nearly 3,500 Queenslanders are registered to be affected with ARF/RHD with First Nations peoples disproportionately represented.
