Funding and Scholarships
The END RHD CRE is a five-year Centre of Research Excellence funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, starting 2015. The END RHD CRE brings together 20 investigators from 16 institutions to develop an endgame for RHD in Australia. At the end of 5 years, the END RHD CRE will provide a stepwise roadmap to ending RHD in Australia and aim to produce a clear vision for achieving measurable disease control targets.
The END RHD CRE will undertake a number of projects across several disciplines of research including epidemiology, economics, biomedical sciences, clinical practice; health services research; and social sciences with a special focus on engaging the RHD community and documenting the experiences of those living with the disease.
The END RHD CRE is committed to helping to build the capacity of the Aboriginal research workforce as well as improving the training of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal researchers in rheumatic heart disease research.
We want to develop support students as well as independent researchers with excellent qualitative and quantitative research, written and oral communication and project management skills.
To do this, the END RHD CRE is offering:
- Student funding
- Professional development funding
- Project and seed funding
Empowering Honours, Masters, PhD and other students to be independent researchers and practitioners is a core function of the END RHD CRE.
The END RHD CRE offers a number of scholarships for students who are undertaking research that supports the objectives of the CRE.
Applications for an END RHD CRE scholarship are open all year.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING
The END RHD CRE is offering RHD researchers the opportunity to apply for funds to support their professional development. Funding is available for activities which advance a researcher’s personal career goals while also supporting the objectives of the CRE.
The END RHD CRE provides the following types of professional development funding:
- Travel funding
- Training support
PROJECT AND SEED FUNDING
Comprehensive research leadership and succession planning necessitates development and support of researchers and clinicians. To that end, the END RHD CRE offers bi-annual rounds of competitive seed and project funding for research projects that support the objectives of the CRE.
