Research @ Menzies
Menzies School of Health Research leads a number of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease research projects. Over a period of more than 20 years, Menzies' researchers have made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in the field, informed clinical practices and advances and were instrumental in the establishment of RHDAustralia and the funding of the Government's rheumatic fever strategy. Menzies' research mainly targets primary and secondary prevention of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease. This means stopping people from getting the disease in the first place, but if they do get it, treating them to keep them healthy.
A number of Menzies' researchers continue their contribution as chief investigators and associate investigators in the END RHD Centre of Research Excellence.
