Nearly a hundred people gathered to learn more about Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) in Alice Springs in August.
Hosted by RHD Australia, the evening seminar explored a range of issues around the prevention and management of the disease, and also raised awareness of ARF and RHD in remote communities across Australia by sharing information and experiences relating to the disease.
The seminar was presented by an array of speakers including Claire Boardman, Deputy Director, RHD Australia and Gavin Wheaton, Paediatric Cardiologist and Medical Director of Paediatric Medicine at Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide.
Attended by health workers, clinicians, remote area nurses and students, the night was noted as being “a really effective and valuable evening presentation”.
RHD Australia will look to host similar events over the coming months.
